For PLAYING THE SPACE, concerts of various musical styles were recorded in different Berlin music locations. "With 180 degree projection and specially mixed for IOSONO sound, PLAYING THE SPACE is a cinematic journey that goes beyond just watching a concert. The audience will acoustically and visually experience the unique characteristics of the portrayed music spaces," says Christian Weissig from Fraunhofer HHI. "Sound is a vital part of the concept and the IOSONO system has proven to be the best solution for immersive acoustics." Viewers will enjoy the Berlin Philharmonics at “Berliner Philharmonie”, a music theater at the former power plant “Kraftwerk Berlin” and a modern classical ensemble at “Stattbad Berlin”.

When the most creative people in the entertainment industry are gathering in the German capital for the Berlinale, the Berlin International Film Festival, the "Avant Première" will open its doors from 10 to 13 February. The international trade fair for performing arts films features a "Focus on Technology" track this year and will open with the premiere of PLAYING THE SPACE. The performance will be followed by other demo screenings in Fraunhofer HHI’s TiME Lab, short for Tomorrow’s immersive Media Experience Lab. After establishing TiME Lab at its Berlin headquarters in 2009, the mobile TiME Lab was launched in 2012, allowing broader audiences to enjoy immersive media experiences like now for the screening of PLAYING THE SPACE and other projects of Fraunhofer HHI shot with their unique panoramic 360° camera system called OmniCam. Both showrooms are equipped with an IOSONO sound system to provide a unique acoustical experience.
