The presentations

All these documents in this chapter are in a work-in-progress-status and may not be finalized on this day:

K L R R: The Golden Dream
A non banking financial Aid
THE GOLDEN DREAM is a non-banking solution for all Latin America students who want to study in Berlin and don’t have the necessary funds to do it nor have a scholarship by the moment.
We want to help them to make their dreams come true and develop their skills in their own field

Is there a choice or are our choices conditioned to our context?

Let’s talk about Latin American students who want to study abroad (Germany)
Many students from Latin America are forced to give up studying abroad due to lack of economic resources and opportunities. Scholarships are few, commercial educational loans maintain very high interest rates and the requirements to apply for one are many and not all are candidates, since not all fill the profile. On the other hand, if you decide to finance your studies yourself, it would take many years to collect the money necessary to fulfill your dream.
With the aim of supporting the dreams of thousands of students and in response to this need, The Golden Dream is born, it is not a scholarship much less a bank financing, it is a financing with a human face, where the student will obtain the money they need to cover their expenses corresponding to their first school year, in exchange, students will teach courses and workshops that benefit the community in Berlin, contributing to the professional development of many people who want to find a better job but they lack of professional training ,knowledge or the management of some softwares needed for their professional life. We are going to train them by providing them the tools they need for, through our courses.
The Golden dream wants to offer this training at a cost below the market, in this way we want to support two communities, our Latin American students in need and the community in Berlin that is looking for better job opportunities.

R H [3]: The Chinese in Germany, Job opportunity, and future
Establish a communication platform for sharing work experience and entrepreneurial ideas for Chinese in Germany

A growing number of Chinese people are coming to Germany to study and work, and there is a lot of business cooperation between Germany and China. However, many people do not know very well how to find the right job or to take advantage of entrepreneurial opportunities, as well as to have their own contacts and how to integrate into the German employment environment. So my idea is to create a website, first of all, to provide a platform for communication, by organizing regular online and offline activities or hybrid activities for Chinese people in Germany to discuss their work experience and business ideas in Germany, where they can present their ideas or confusion, get more information and inspiration through mutual communication, and accumulate contacts.
In addition to the user communication, we also organize some theme events, invite experts from a certain industry or company to speak and interact with people, answer questions, through these exchanges to have a deeper understanding of an industry or certain job content, to help career planning, and encourage innovation.
It can also help companies invited to the event to promote their companies or help entrepreneurs find investors.

E T: Implementation of Design Thinking in Successful Organizations
Personal findings for strategizing a roadmap for my future business

Design thinking as a creative problem-solving approach enables social innovation and enhances overall productivity in every organization. As an eager entrepreneur who wants to create a social impact, I’m interested in researching the organizations implement design thinking successfully to their businesses. In conclusion, I also would like to share my personal experience with design thinking in purpose of strategizing a roadmap for my future business.

F E V P: Carpentry Roots
Sustainable and Creative Furniture

Carpentry Roots

Ave Retro was born in 2016 as an experimental workshop that sees the opportunity to take waste materials as raw material to give a sustainable look to design. This is where we focus our gaze on wood and the craft of carpentry.
Using various woods, we give freedom to the creation of designs with an active participation with the client. We base our work on achieving functionality, aesthetics and avant-garde so that each object has its own stamp. The result can be an interesting hybrid or the rescue of the most classic forms, the idea is to never stop experimenting.
Ideating
My intention is to appeal to the German public with Ave Retro’s unique designs, which are ergonomic, tailor-made and feature innovative geometric shapes, mosaics and different woodwork, focusing on highlighting the natural colors of the wood.
On the other hand, it is also important to consider the environmental impact that the wood industry has on the environment. One percent of carbon emissions are produced by the products that come from wood, such as paper or furniture, which must be incinerated to be disposed of. The waste becomes chipboard, which is like pressed wood walls, or is used as firewood to produce electricity, as well as being used to make barns and compost.
My idea is to use the remnants of the wood and work with it with the intention of homologating in Berlin, the work that Ave Retro does in Chile. In order to do this, I have to find out which wood products have a high carbon storage potential.
The UN only counts local carbon emissions, it does not count locally produced or internationally brought in wood waste, so I think that is the waste that my project should be targeting to get the material that needs to be worked on.
Validate
Begin with a Research…
• Internet
• Forums
• Blogs
• State of the art of sustainable woodworking.
Do a questionnaire or a survey, about the following topics, (for an eventual use):
• Knowledge of Wood recicle
• Interesting in Wood furniture’s or accessories
• Case study about likes and dislikes of design with wood
• Knowledge about Carpentry
Random Questions:
• How do I get the materials?
• Which kind of laws I must know in order to open a store in Germany as a foreign?
• Which kind of visa do I need?
• How much does it cost to bring all the machines? Or is it better to buy them again here?
• …

If there is any chance to meet again after the exams there is the proposal ao meet for a common meal with contributions from all the students and their different cultural backgrounds, as it was practiced before: Design-Thinking @ bbw HM029 (VI)

Anmerkungen

[1We have tested and discussed all kind of different scenarios with the bbw-Hochschule-staff on April 28th 2021 and decided this to be the less complicated way to succeed. WS.

[2You remember, we have discussed all the 4 different proposals how to pass the exam. Finally, all students decided to be in favor of this model:

Section 23 Papers

(1) By means of a paper, students should prove that they are capable of transferring theoretical or factual knowledge into applicable knowledge, and that they can demonstrate a confident handling of scientific sources, data analysis and scientific formulations by applying scientific working methods.

(2) A paper can be completed as a minor paper (kleine Hausarbeit) with a length of 8 to 12 pages, or as a major paper (große Hausarbeit) not below 15 but not above 25 pages per student.

(3) Papers can be completed as individual or group work. In doing so, attention must be paid to compliance with section 19 paragraph 7.

(4) Minor paper s are intended as assessments during the course of study, while major papers are set in the modules “Student Reseach Project”, “Student Research Project I” and “Student Reseach Project”.

(5) The scope, duration and submission date of the minor paper are determined by the examiner who shall also observe the usual time limits and inform the examination management and students in accordance with section 18 paragraphs 4 and 5.

(6) The topic for the major paper as part of the modules “Student Reseach Project”, “Student Reseach Project I” and “Student Reseach Project II” will be agreed with an examiner. The agreed topic and examiner must be verified by a previously announced deadline via the system provided by the university.

(7) The processing time for a minor papers is four to six weeks, and eight weeks from topic confirmation to submission deadline for major papers which are part of the modules “Student Reseach Project”, “Student Reseach Project I” and “Student Reseach Project II”.

(8) The major paper must be submitted via the system provided by the university by the submission deadline.

(9) Papers are usually graded by the respective examiners.

(10) Students must be informed about the grading of their assignment no later than eight weeks after the submission deadline in accordance with the procedure provided for this purpose.
